Dental Veneers may be perfect for you.

Learn more about veneers and their costs, safety and long term effectiveness.

Porcelain veneers are the gold standard procedure for smile makeovers. There is no other cosmetic treatment that can offer amazing results quite like porcelain veneers. At Redland Bay Smiles, patients have the choice of selecting veneers crafted by select specialist labs.

Veneers are thin covers of ceramic which are bonded onto natural tooth structure. The result is a highly aesthetic smile designed to suit all your facial features. Our highly trained providers at Redland Bay Smiles use the Digital Smile Design in all veneer cases, both in-house and lab created. This allows patients to see the results they can expect, even before beginning treatment.

Porcelain veneers completely mask discoloured teeth and perfectly correct the shape of each individual tooth. They fill any undesirable gaps and correct mild misalignments. The result is a straighter, brighter and flawlessly radiant smile. Redland Bay Smiles is renowned for delivering consistently amazing results. Patients travel interstate and overseas to see our sought-after practitioners. Redland Bay Smiles practitioners place their focus on NATURAL enhancements rather than making veneers that are noticeable and fake in appearance.

Dental veneers are an elective treatment used to change the shape and/or colour of frontal teeth. They fall into the category of Cosmetic Dentistry. You may have read about Hollywood celebrities using veneers to enhance their smiles. At Redland Bay Smiles, we welcome patients that have cosmetic concerns regarding their teeth and will guide you through the myriad of options available and costs involved so you too can have that Hollywood smile.

Porcelain Veneers can be an excellent way to improve your smile and we will sit down with you and discuss the procedure as well as outline all costs and risks from the start. We use high quality materials to ensure we can give you a smile that you can be proud of for many years to come.

How long do dental veneers last?

Dental veneers are extremely long-lasting. Correctly fitted and installed dental veneers can last up to 15 years, with a reasonable minimum period of around 5 years.

how do you look after dental veneers

How do you look after dental veneers?

Dental veneers are relatively simple to look after. They don’t require any advanced or special care. It’s important that you continue to follow good dental hygiene practices. Brush at least twice per day, floss regularly and thoroughly (ask us to show you the correct way to floss) and use a high-quality antiseptic mouth wash.

Do Dental Veneers ruin your teeth?

Porcelain veneers won’t ruin your existing teeth. They are designed and fitted especially to fit perfectly over your natural teeth. All porcelain veneers are custom-made to suit your teeth shape and size exactly. This can help prevent any damage to your teeth.

What are dental veneers used for?

Dental veneers are a good solution for a range of dental concerns. Depending on the specifics of your unique situation, we may recommend dental veneers for:
  • Teeth discolouration, staining or other concerns with colour.
  • Worn down, chipped or broken teeth.
  • Tooth misalignment, unevenness or other similar issues.
  • Gaps between teeth.

How are veneers attached?

Veneers are bonded to your natural teeth using a dental cement. Prior to that, we’ll clean and polish your teeth in preparation for the veneer. We may need to make some minor etchings on the tooth (roughening it up) to give the dental cement a better chance of bonding.

Once the dental cement and veneer are applied, we’ll shine a special light on the veneer. This light will activate specific chemicals in the cement and cause it to rapidly harden. Once we’re satisfied that it has hardened, we’ll trim away any excess cement and ensure that you are still able to bite and use your teeth normally. Some final adjustments may be required, but after that you are good to go. We may ask you to come back in around two weeks to ensure that your gums aren’t being adversely affected by the veneers.

Do Dental Veneers cause cavities?

Correctly fitted and applied veneers do not cause cavities. In some cases, a small amount of enamel will be removed from your teeth to allow the veneers to fit and appear natural. This won’t affect your chances of developing cavities or tooth decay, however it’s still very important for you to maintain good dental hygiene habits. Your teeth may still accumulate tartar and plaque, so brushing at least twice daily and flossing regularly should still be a part of your routine.

What to do if a porcelain veneer falls off

If one of your veneers has fallen off, it’s important to schedule an appointment with us as soon as possible. Keep the veneer in a small container and bring it along with you. We’ll take a look at the veneer, see if it’s still a good fit and in good condition, and reapply it. It’s extremely important that you don’t attempt to reattach the veneer yourself.

Can Dental Veneers fall off?

Regardless of how perfect your veneer application was, or how careful your dentist is, it’s always possible for something to go wrong. In particular situations, dental veneers can fall off. This may be caused by age or physical damage among other causes. We go to great lengths to ensure that your dental veneers are correctly attached and won’t fall off. Correctly fitting them, applying the glue correctly and taking care during every stage of the process can help ensure their longevity.
