At Redland Bay Smiles we strongly believe preventive dental care is the cornerstone of a healthy mouth. We encourage patients to come see us at least every 6 months for a comprehensive check-up and, if required, a thorough cleaning, x-rays and fluoride treatment. Check-up appointments are necessary in order to catch problems before they cause much bigger issues which can be potentially painful and debilitating. For example, signs of gum disease, such as bleeding and bad breath, caught and treated early can prevent future pain and loss of teeth. Similarly, cavities caught and treated early can prevent future pain, need of root canal treatment or extractions.
At these check-up appointments our Dentists at Redland Bay Smiles will also demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques and answer any questions you may have regarding your own particular circumstances. After each check-up appointment patients are given, if required, detailed treatment plans outlining any treatment necessary and associated costs. At Redland Bay Smiles we pride ourselves on our professionalism and commitment to fully earning the trust of our patients and as such no treatment will be completed without patients being fully aware of what is being performed and of any costs involved.
A comprehensive check-up every six months (or at least every six months) is a critical component of good preventative dental care. A regular check-up is usually a relatively simple procedure, and it can allow your dentist to identify new issues or ongoing concerns that require attention. A comprehensive check-up will involve a complete review of all of your teeth and gums. You will undergo a thorough dental inspection with the aim of identifying and dental problems that need to be addressed.
Teeth cleaning at regular intervals (usually when you come in for a comprehensive checkup) can help avoid the accumulation of plaque and debris in and around your teeth and gums that can cause problems such as bad breath, gingivitis and gum disease. In addition, a good teeth cleaning can make your smile brighter and whiter, which can help encourage you to form habits to keep it looking great.
As part of a regular preventative health regimen, fluoride treatment is critical in giving your teeth an added boost in their fight against daily damage from multiple sources. When you come in for a checkup we’ll give you a fluoride treatment that will give your teeth a temporary protective coating.
